Clinical assessment services 

We have been operating Clinical assessment services (CAS) in south west London as part of the overall Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) contract for over 4 years. This contract covers 4 out of the 6 boroughs and is delivered in partnership with Vocare – another local healthcare provider. 
 
In early 2020, we were directly commissioned to provide a modern CAS – utilising the latest innovation and technology. This was designed to handle COVID-19 patients, complete ambulance validations, support emergency workers who need our support when they are “on scene” and to provide urgent primary care services during the daytime. 
 
This CAS provides a 24/7 service and serves 1.6 million people across 6 boroughs. As well as supporting COVID-19 patients whose needs can be complex, we are able to drive efficiency in the ambulance service – reducing unnecessary ambulance despatches and helping crews to move on safely and quickly from one patient to the next. 
 
By providing urgent primary care, we also relieve pressure on GP practices who are under strain and might not be able to respond as quickly as some patients may need. We have worked hard to build a trusted reputation and we now deliver services across the whole of south London – more than one quarter of a million patients have been cared for by us – a figure we are very proud.
