JOB SUMMARY: 
The Head of Quality will work as a member of the Clinical Governance team within SELDOC, reporting to 
the Medical Director. Our Quality Manager(s) report to the Head of Quality. 
 
The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of quality across all SELDOC Group services and for 
continuous improvement in their quality. They will work in close partnership with operational 
colleagues to achieve this and with other colleagues as required to deliver quality services and to be an 
effective senior leader in the organisation. 
 
The post holder will line manage all employed ACPs (Advanced Clinical Practitioners) and for the quality 
of their work as well as managing quality outputs from our sessional clinical workforce. They will 
provide strong leadership to enable the services to respond effectively to the challenges they will face 
whilst providing efficient clinical services and sustained improvements. The Head of Quality will provide 
professional leadership to any allied health care professionals within the organisation. 
 
The post holder will be responsible for providing leadership on a range of clinical imperatives across the 
organisation as agreed from time to time with the Medical Director (and CEO in the absence of the 
Medical Director), including safeguarding and infection prevention and control. 
Key working relationships: 
 
The post holder’s primary relationships will be with the Medical Director, Quality Managers, operational 
colleagues and colleagues in customer organisations. The post-holder will have regular contact with the 
frontline clinical workforce and service delivery teams. 
The post holder may also be required to deputise for the Medical Director at internal and external 
meetings from time to time. 
 
 
 
 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

 
Work with operational colleagues to maintain SELDOC’s patient-centred approach with high quality care at its core 
Provide expertise into the organisation with regard to all professional matters involving ACPs 
and allied health professionals 
Line Manage all employed ACPs and allied healthcare professionals within the service and act as a professional lead as appropriate for the ACP sessional workforce 
Provide senior clinical leadership and influence service design and delivery across the organisation 
 
Recruitment and leadership 
Lead on recruitment and selection of ACPs including reviewing applications and CVs and signing off pre-employment checks 
Ensure that all ACPs within the service have completed their statutory and mandatory training 
Further develop and deliver induction process for ACPs 
Provide professional leadership to all ACPs within the service 
Be accountable for the delivery of high-quality clinical care by the ACP workforce 
Monitor performance and productivity of the ACP workforce, identifying learning needs and developing and delivering training as appropriate 
Meet with ACPs as required to discuss professional issues around, for example, conduct, performance and complaints or incident findings 
Be responsible for ensuring that all ACPs are fit to practice and that regular professional updates are in place 
Be the point of contact for professional bodies including the Royal College of Nursing and Healthcare Professionals Council 
Support the Medical Director in all matters relating to recruitment and induction of GPs Governance 
Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement across the organisation 
Support clinical audit including clinical records, prescribing and referral patterns across the entire clinical workforce 
Lead and direct the Quality Managers in investigating complaints and incidents and writing responses 
Lead and direct with the Quality Managers to identify themes across incidents and complaints, identify learning and develop improvement plans which further enhance the quality of the care we provide to our patients 
Act as Safeguarding Lead for the organisation including co-ordinating training and providing supervision for clinicians 
Lead on Infection Prevention and Control issues within the organisation, supported by operational colleagues 
Support delivery of the ongoing CQC action plan and overall Quality Improvement plans 
Provide appropriate input and challenge to clinical and business plans where necessary 
Work as a clinician within the services SELDOC provides, directly delivering patient care and supporting credible leadership 
Remain professionally up to date 
 
Safeguarding 
Be the named Safeguarding Lead for the organisation 
Monitor and coordinate mandatory safeguarding training of all clinicians within the service 
Monitor safeguarding referral activity within the organisation including ensuring appropriate safety netting and reporting 
Develop supervision for SELDOC clinicians Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) 
Ensure that all staff adhere to SELDOC infection prevention and control policies and other related policies and that best practice is adhered to 
Be the organisational IPC Lead, ensuring that IPC practices are audited at regular intervals and address any shortfalls 
Ensure that processes are in place which enable staff to challenge or report appropriately, any aspect of practice, or lack of resources, that inhibits adherence to Infection Control policies and best practice 
Be the organisational lead for the monitoring and evaluation of standards of environmental cleanliness, taking action to ensure the highest infection control standards, supported by the General Manager for Service Delivery 
 
Financial and Business Strategy 
Support colleagues in understanding financial matters relating to the ACP and allied healthcare professional workforce 
Actively contribute to the development of strategic plans across the organisation where innovative approaches, alternative methodologies and new thinking can support SELDOC in making a positive difference to patients in current and new services 
To empower the ACP and allied health professional workforce to ensure maximum efficiency and reduce costs in line with cost improvement plans

About The Candidate 
Qualifications: 
Masters level education in Advanced Practice 
Postgraduate level qualification and/or RCN Accreditation 
Evidence of continued professional development 
Recognised Prescribing Qualification 
Must be able to work with children of all ages. 
 
Experience: 
Experience of working autonomously diagnosing and treating patients 
Experience in Paediatrics & mental health assessment 
Experience of telephone triage 
Experience of working as a practitioner in a primary care environment, Emergency Department, Urgent Care/Treatment Centre, MAU/EAU or other first contact setting 
Evidence of comprehensive history taking and assessment skills.
