The UTC is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, offering assessment and treatment for urgent  but non-life-threatening conditions. 

Patients can access the service by calling NHS 111, walking in, or via referral from a healthcare professional.  

What the service offers: 

Same-day treatment of minor injuries and illnesses 
On-site diagnostics where available, including basic imaging and pathology pathways 
Prescriptions and advice for self-care when appropriate  
Referrals to hospital specialties or community services when needed 
Clear discharge and follow-up instructions. 

How it works: 

Patients check in at reception and are triaged or streamed to the most appropriate clinician  
Care is provided quickly and safely, reducing pressure on the Emergency Department  
The service is designed to provide a seamless experience, with clear entry points and oversight from King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 
 

Who should use the service: 

The UTC is for urgent, non-life-threatening conditions such as:  
 
Minor injuries, sprains, cuts, simple fractures 
Minor illnesses, including infections, high temperatures, earache, skin rashes 
Conditions requiring same-day care, but not full Emergency Department support.  
 
In a life-threatening emergency, always call 999 or go to the Emergency Department. 
Services are available 24 hours, 7 days a week, and patients will be able to access the service via NHS 111 / walk-in / referral pathways.
