What We Do
If you have a medical problem that cannot wait until you can be seen by your own GP surgery, SELDOC can help.
We provide out-of-hours primary care 6.30pm – 8.00am weekdays and 24 hours at weekends and bank holidays. When you call, a specialist call handler will discuss your situation and refer you to one of our duty clinicians. They will call you back within 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the seriousness of your condition.
Our team of duty clinicians include local GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Pharmacists. They will assess your condition and advise you on how best to resolve it. This may mean following the advice they give you, attending a local pharmacist or receiving help from another healthcare service.
If you require a consultation, SELDOC will arrange an appointment at one of their base centres, or if necessary and appropriate, organise a home visit.
We will try our very best to help you, but as an urgent out-of-hours primary care service, we do not have direct access to blood tests or scans just yet. Also, it’s worth noting that we do not always have access to your GP’s medical record.
Obtaining Repeat Medications
Your local pharmacist is obliged to help regular patients who have run out of their repeat by providing an advanced supply. This is far faster and more convenient than contacting SELDOC.
Where We Work
In Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, we work in:
- Dulwich Community Hospital
- Gracefield Gardens (Streatham)
- Urgent Care Centre – University Hospital Lewisham
- Urgent Care Centre – Guy’s Hospital
Some of these centres see walk-in patients, others only see patients who have had appointments booked for them after speaking to one of their duty clinicians or, for residents of South West London, following a call to 111.
In south west London, we work in partnership with Vocare in:
- Urgent Care Centre – St. Helier University Hospital
- Cricket Green Medical Centre
- Urgent Care Centre – Kingston Hospital
- Urgent Care Centre – St. George’s Hospital
- Minor Injuries Unit – Queen Mary’s Hospital
- Brocklebank Health Centre
- Balham Health Centre
Because SELDOC is staffed predominantly by local clinicians, we have local knowledge and long-established connections with other healthcare providers in the area. This means that we can provide an integrated approach to your healthcare. For example, we can refer you to services which may care for you better at home rather than being admitted to hospital, work with palliative care services or involve district nurses with your care.
SELDOC also runs other services such as home ward systems helping to care for patients at home rather than in hospital, working with the London Ambulance Service to respond to calls or providing GP’s to work in local A&E departments. Look out for our logo.
