Helping you find the information you need

Safe, sleeping baby

How do I get healthcare help when my GP is closed?

We provide out-of-hours primary care 6.30pm – 8.00am weekdays and 24 hours at weekends and bank holidays. When you call 111, a specialist call handler will discuss your situation and, if required, will refer you to SELDOC with an appointment.

Our team of duty clinicians include local GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Pharmacists. If necessary and appropriate, a home visit will be organised. We will try our very best to help you, but as an urgent out-of-hours primary care service, we do not have direct access to blood tests or scans just yet.

Also, it’s worth noting that we do not always have access to your GP’s medical record.

If you are in Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Sutton, Kingston, Merton, Wandsworth or Richmond, call 111.

If your condition is potentially life-threatening, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E.

Our opening hours are 6.30pm – 8.00am on weekdays and 24 hours at weekends and bank holidays.

What to expect

111 call handlers will need to ask you some questions so have your information ready when you call. You will need:

  • Your full name
  • Your date of birth
  • Your address (or the address you are staying at)
  • Your telephone number
  • Your registered GP practice
  • Don’t have a registered GP? Find and register with a GP in your area
  • You will need to be able to provide basic information on your medical problem so that 111 can assess the best healthcare option for you.
