Why Choose SELDOC

Why Choose SELDOC?

“We are successful and have managed to ride the turbulence of the NHS for the past 20 years as our not for profit ethos focusses on quality and has always created value for patients, our members’ surgeries and local commissioners.”

Dr Kishor Vasant – GP Director SELDOC

SELDOC is owned by its 120 member surgeries. Our mutual status means any surplus is reinvested back into patient care. Although clinically led, SELDOC also benefits from a highly experienced team of specialists and support staff, from patient experience and quality experts to operations and IT professionals. Robust systems are in place to support the duty clinician rota and the highly trained call handling service, making us ideally placed to extend our services both locally and nationally.

SELDOC strive for the highest standards and regularly review our service. The 2015 CQC inspection achieved a ‘Good’ in all inspection area ratings and we continue to perform well against National Quality Requirements and Information Governance Compliance.

What makes us different?

In patient responses to a questionnaire, over 70% rated our service as excellent, very good or good.

Our patient focussed, cooperative approach to healthcare is underpinned by the importance we place on using local teams with local knowledge to provide local care. Our motto; ‘you are caring for your colleagues’ patients’ is the key to our success and drives everything we do.

Working in partnership with SELDOC:

  • Avoids unnecessary hospital admissions through our commitment to using local staff and clinicians
  • Engages primary care and patient groups in care delivery
  • Utilises our not for profit cooperative care ethos

I like to think local doctors have a unique understanding of what local patients need and what services are available. For example, an elderly patient may be assisted by a district nurse or a community team that could prevent admission into hospital.
