Infrastructure
At the heart of the service is a dedicated call handling system (call centre), designed especially for out of hours. Seldoc has its own IT system and has a high speed NHS NET connection that allows for sophisticated data flows. Medical reports for all patients seen during the night are automatically electronically faxed to respective patient GP surgeries each morning at 7am.
SELDOC is an Exemplar site for the NHS Direct. Currently integration takes place on Saturday mornings between 7am and 11am, with al calls to Seldoc being directed to the NHSD South London help line. Should callers need GP intervention, the patient’s details are transferred electronically to SELDOC and passed to one of our duty doctors.
The Pharmacy (drugs) are stored in dedicated drugs room and ensure that all necessary procedures for the storage and disposal of medicines and equipment are adhered to via established polices.
SELDOC has four vehicles, (owned by Seldoc) for chauffeuring doctors on home visits. Each car is fitted with mobile telephones allowing GP and drivers and base to be in contact with each other all the time. The cars are checked on a daily basis and regularly serviced. The drivers are responsible for checking the vehicles and mobile equipment at the start of each shift, managed by a dedicated transport supervisor.
